I honestly didn’t think I had it in me today, people.
After the delay in being able to sit down and write properly on Sunday, and the dead tie between two of last week’s photos, I didn’t know if I’d be able to pull a story out of my ass, which is precisely where I pulled it out from.
But I did.
From my ass.
And those few of you who read it, seemed to actually like it. I hope you still will, now that you know where it came from.
My ass.
If you have absolutely no clue what is happening or what I’m talking about, have a peek at The Rides for a list of shit that goes down here. You’ll probably want to get yourself a form of protection. I’m anti-gun here. Only sharp, shabby-like weapons, archery type stuff and such, your wits and of course condoms, are permitted on site.
Last week’s poll brought about a tie but it was broken during my slumber last night (that’s a fancy word for sleep) and a tale was born. From my ass. Which we have covered.
The winning photo was Desolation and the flash fiction piece I wrote about it, is right here. But don’t bother if you don’t enjoy at least one of the following: comedy, suspense, drama, horror, thriller, sic-fi, fantasy or breathing. You probably won’t like it. I have to warn you though that a random baby hedgehog has a 0.006% chance of dying if you DON’T read it. Pffff…I don’t know about you, but I don’t think I could live with that on my conscience.
For those of you who find clicking other links difficult, here’s what happens here at the Tuesday: Picture Poll!:
Every Tuesday, I will post three photos that I have taken for you to vote on. What you are voting on, is which photo you want me to write a “smoke-long” for. Smoke-Long is another name for Flash Fiction. You can vote however your gut tells you. You can vote for the photo because it appeals to your senses, or because you want to hear what kind of warped story my brain and the voices who roam free in here tell me to write. Whatever you do, just make sure you fill in the poll at the bottom of the post. If you don’t, I can’t protect you from both of your ears likely falling off. I’m sorry, but I don’t make the rules.
So far, I’ve read reports of several of my readers’ ears falling off after they simply “liked” the post, and then clicked away without voting. So I don’t know… risk it, don’t risk it, vote, don’t vote…the choice is up to you.
And the nominees are:
Now fly, my Pretties!
I mean VOTE:
Voted, and about to read your f. fiction piece. 🙂
Thanks! The hedgehogs thank you in advance….
haha they are welcome
Gotta save the hedgies! Plus I don’t like trees caught up in nets. Where the heck do you get your photos from? 😀
True, I forgot to mention where the winning photo was from, as promised.
Nothing too exciting with that one to be honest… it’s just some scenery we were passing on a drive. I have a bit of a tree photography fetish.
I can’t reveal the non-winning photos actual identity as it takes away from the story I could build around it. If your photo wins though, you’ll hear about it 🙂
PS: that picture of the baby hedgehog was a cheap move. Well played, well played. I will go read now. 😉
!00% aware of that 😛
🙂
Every time I vote, it’s the least chosen. I’m the Robert Frost of voting on your poll.
Hahahaha….
Yeah, I’ve actually been thinking about this. I think next Tuesday will be a combination of some of the last place photos. I post these photos with small seeds planted in my brain and try to develop them as I check on the voting. I’ll be honest, the only one I had a story for on Sunday was The Cabin, and that was in super last place.
Then I saw how close the race was between the other two. I had a rough idea for Down That Road, but absolutely nothing for Desolation. Then, luckily, there was a tie yesterday which gave me a few extra hours and the chance that maybe The Road would win.
It didn’t.
I literally sat down, started writing, and knocked that out in 25 minutes with no idea on the direction it would go. Sometimes, that’s the best way for me to do it.
Anyway, I’ll be cheering for the little guy, as I always do. The photo that is in last place, hoping for a last minute comeback.
I figured you did something like that. Why not post three pictures with three seeds planted, so no matter which one won, you’d have something? And then later on, in a few weeks, you could sneak one of the other two in there so you’d still have a story.
But something totally off the cuff often turns out better than something planned.
My plans never work out. The only thing consistent about my plans is that they fail…consistently.
Good idea though. I mean, obviously, theres SOME sort of tiny idea lurking there. I don’t just post 3 completely random photos there. It’s actually painstaking and the Picture Poll posts usually are the most time consuming for me, for the simple fact that I AM thinking too much about it and trying to plan ahead.
It’s a vicious catch 22 circle and my vertigo has kicked in and I have now puked.
Sorry.
Peppermint schnapps strikes again!
Sometimes the best posts are not even that thought out.
I wish I had some peppermint schnapps.
Or a real drink.
I’m glad I don’t. My cheeks and forehead are super hot and I’m under the weather. Bleh.
😦
The Germans say room temp beer is the cure for everything.
And a nice rocks glass of some 12 year old single malt can cure just about anything.
Incidentally, both of these will help you sweat it out quicker.
And that’s my medical advice for the day.
Sincerely,

Hair of various dogs. True. But wait! We have Obamacare now! Haha! How long have you ex-patted?
Yes, I know and I wish people would stop fighting it and I wish it had been around before I left which was officially since last July, unofficially in a nomad-gypsy like fashion since 1998. Even without citizenship in countries over here as I floated, hospital and doctor visits cost me less than 1% of what they cost in the US.
Last US ER visit cost me $18,979 for a shot in the ass of antibiotics, a chest x-ray, 2 Tylenol and a banana bag. Antibiotics were an additional $300 for the generic versions.
Last ER visit in Europe, with no citizenship in the country cost me $6 for full body scan, blood work, 2 banana bags, antibiotics and treatment..
Last emergency dental visit in the US cost me $4600 for a root canal and temp cap.
Last emergency dental visit in the EU with no citizenship cost me $43 for a root canal and permanent cap.
Health care is a HUMAN RIGHT.
The cute baby hedgehog is safe! I voted 🙂 I love all your images. Making me choose just one is tough. It’s like a test. Without the time limit. Or writing stuff. But you know what I mean. 😉
Hahaha… I should have had the baby hedgehog in the mix.
Totally know what you mean. I do it on purpose you know…to torture all of you..it’s called Tough Love and someday, you’ll all thank me 🙂
You don’t know which one I picked, doo dah, doo dah!
(Please tell me you know that tune.)
I freakin’ love that song.

Baby hedgehog totally should have been in the mix!! That thing is freaking CUTE.
I’m glad to see you’re mulling over the idea of doing stories from some of the pictures with the least votes…though I voted for desolation (guess it just took everyone else a while to catch up) so I’m glad you didn’t do that this week 🙂 I hope you won’t take it the wrong way if I say that the stories that come out of your ass are truly inspired.
Now I’m going to take my Celtic heritage off to vote.
Baby hedgehogs win every time…. THat would be no contest, I’m afraid.
My ass is touched…not in a sexual harassment sort of way, either. Your continued support and kind words mean a lot 🙂 Thanks for the feedback!
I feel the same way that my ass does 🙂
🙂 haha
