I had full intentions of taking a picture of something Earthy today as charged with by the voluntary photo challenge I signed up for, but…
Well….
You can read about what went wrong here where you will also learn that eating chocolate has been medically proven to be the one and only thing to cure the common cold or side effects of not currently smoking.
There’s also a photo of me hanging out with Kraftwerk last night after work in that link, which you DO NOT want to miss. I’ve never see anyone party this hard.
Anyway, it’s been pissing down with rain all day today in Stockholm, Sweden where winter has decided to completely evade us and focus all of its attention on ‘Murica’s East Coast, which is simply not fair. If I didn’t want intense winters, I wouldn’t have moved to one of the most expensive countries in the world now, would I? I’m not bringing any of my camera devises outside where it can get water damage. Not when cameras and phones cost at least 7 times more than they do anywhere else in the world.
When people ask me where I’m from (it happens a lot..I mean A LOT-LOT in my line of work) I generally reply with EARTH.
This both confuses them and 8 out of 10 times shuts them up which saves me the trouble of finding another way to make it clear that I have no interest in small talk.
It’s also true. I have been traveling so much over the past 18 years, and “lived” so many places, that it was always hard to say where I was from. I mean, I’ll always be from New Jersey, and that will forever remain crystal clear by the attitude bestowed upon me while growing up there. But when people asked where I was currently residing, I could never really answer.
So initially, I was going to post a photo of a tour bus as that’s where I have spent a good amount of time over the years. But then I remembered this photo I took from a plane window on the way to another country where I would jump on a tour bus and reside for the next 7 weeks as I woke up in a new country almost every day. Sounds glamorous, but trust me, living on a bus with 17 dudes is not all it’s cracked up to be despite whatever weird fantasy you are currently picturing. Showers are also limited.
Anyway, I get to see a lot of the Earth and I get to see a lot of impressive views of it. Here is one of my favorites.
I hope it inspires you to get off your ass and travel. There’s a whole world out there, and just like where the meaning of my blog originally came from:
The World Is Your Playground. Get Out There and Play.
So true! Nice post! And I love the pic!!!!
Thanks! And your new webpage looks amazing!! Drooling over all of the new pieces (slurp).
